"Unfortunately there isn't much water here so Dolphin man is pretty useless." Better than the previous two sequels.

Citizen Toxie: The Toxic Avenger IV starts as a gang of terrorists known as the Diaper Mafia led by Tex Diaper (co-writer Trent Haaga) storm the Tromaville school for the very special & hold a class of very special kids & they're teacher hostage. The Toxic Avenger (David Mattey) & his sidekick Lardass (Joe Fleishaker) are on the case, they confront the gang in an attempt to rescue the kids but discover Tex has rigged a bomb to explode. Which it does. The resulting explosion opens an interdimensional hole in which the Toxic Avenger is transported to Tromadu, an exact opposite of Tromaville while his evil opposite from Tromadu known as the Noxic Offender ends up in Tromaville. Still with me? Good. The Noxic Avenger starts to systematically slaughter the residents of Tromaville & cause mayhem the Toxic Avenger finds himself in a place where he is considered evil, he must find a way back to his beloved Tromaville & stop the Noxic Avenger & his reign of evil...

Co-written, co-produced & directed by Lloyd Kaufman this is the fourth, & to date the last, Toxic Avenger film & is a huge improvement on the first two sequels especially Part III. The script by Kaufman, Patrick Cassidy, Gabriel Friedman & Trent Haaga feels much more like the original film with a decent & at times amusing blend of gross out humour & outrageous gore that has something to offend most. From poking fun at retards in a scene when the Diaper Mafia burst into their class with machine guns & their teacher says duck to which they all start quacking & flapping their arms! The collection of lame superheros like Dolphin man & Master-Bator who can shoot massive amounts of white sticky liquid from his crotch area! There's plenty of the usual childish juvenile Troma bad taste humour with lots of fart gags, making fun of people with disability, toilet humour, male prostitutes & large mutant penis monsters who try to rape Toxie up the rear, there's something here for everyone & I thought the way everyone referred to the retards as 'special' was funny. The gore & violence are also back in this entry, everything is turned up to the max & there's a real energy running through this one almost as if the filmmakers actually cared about the finished product, not something I could say with regard to that many Troma films. The story is fun, it moves along like a rocket & is a pretty entertaining & funny film if you have a slightly twisted sense of humour. All that rubbishy narration is gone as well & the film has proper dialogue.

Director Kaufman surely hasn't made a better film? This one is actually quite competent with reasonable special effects, a nice sense of fun. Another Troma character Sgt. Kabukiman makes an appearance while the Toxic Avenger himself looks different this time around with a much better make-up job. The gore is back big time, there are numerous crushed heads including an old lady having her head run over, people have there intestines ripped out, someone has their arms ripped off, someone has a stake shoved through their throat, there's loads of blood as dozens of people are killed, limbs are severed, tongues & eyes are pulled out, people are gunned down & Mad Cowboy gets put through a meat mincing machine with blood spurting results plus a whole load more as well. There's plenty of nudity as well with enough lesbianism & sex to satisfy.

Technically the film is alright, when compared to a multi million dollar Hollywood production than it's not going to hold up that well but for a Troma film this is Oscar worthy stuff. The acting was OK, again considering this is Troma.

Citizen Toxie: The Toxic Avenger IV is much better than the usual Troma film & is a fairly decent watch on it's own, maybe not quite as good as the original but it's up there, definitely worth a watch for those with a questionable sense of humour & those with the stomach. The other Toxic Avenger films are The Toxic Avenger (1985),The Toxic Avenger, Part II (1989) & the truly terrible The Toxic Avenger Part III: The Last Temptation of Toxie (1989).

Citizen Toxie: The Toxic Avenger IV

Well, if you are used to Troma's special brand of gore and humor, depraved and tasteless, then CITIZEN TOXIE:THE TOXIC AVENGER IV will probably satisfy their faithful legion of fans. The hideously deformed monster hero of superhuman size and strength has a lot to deal with his next adventure. I mean, this fourth film in the TOXIC AVENGER series opens with a psychotic group known as the "diaper mafia"(I couldn't make this up if I tried)besieging a school room full of "tards"(leave it to Troma to take a giant poke at the mentally handicapped, even having one of the nutsoid mafia unloading bullets into one of the "special" students until the victim is a bloody mess, face barely recognizable)and hoisting the pregnant teacher, hands tied with rope, with preparations to make a statement about waisting tax dollars on those who can not be taught. Well, Toxie shows up in the disguise of a hot babe reporter in a red bikini and starts destroying the diaper mafia one at a time(we get the wonderful image of one scare member pooping his diaper before it is shoved in his face, his head later caved in by Toxie's foot). We actually see a victim's head up his ass(literally, this, my friends, is a first),before it is taken off by a Toxie clothesline soon to be a "hot potato" for the students to toss about the classroom. Toxie even removes one victim's guts and other organs despite the fact that this member of the mafia has a detonator for a bomb(a bomb with a very slow timer). Toxie is trying to impregnate Sarah(if you think the blind jokes have subsided, think again). Toxie even has a side kick, the "morbidly obese" Lard Ass(that's his crime-fighting title!).

When Lard Ass eats the bomb(!),before it can fully digest(I have no other way of explaining it),a cigarette lighter sets off an explosion in the school which sends Toxie into an alternate dimension where his opposite is not the superhero, but a villain who sells crack to youth and is wanted by the police(while also a sex deviant with a male boy toy in leather, a female slave he beats and who has bad dental hygiene, and a monster cock). Meanwhile, Noxie, Toxie's "alternate self", no longer the hero, and unapologetic when it comes to ripping the arms off of Tromaville's police chief and tossing a 12 year old girl into the school brick wall because she asks him, "Oh, Toxie, say it ain't so?" Well, as expected by Troma, an elderly lady moving across the street with her walker is hit by a car, with her skull later crushed after the driver backs over the woman, not to mention a black man is dragged, hog-tied, by a truck driven by racist rednecks until the fellow's body parts fall off, his lower torso pulled apart! Imagine seeing Noxie use Julie Strain's breast to crush a face before peeling her face off! And, a homage to news reels on celluloid, ala Citizen Kane, as only Lloyd Kaufman can provide. We see tongues ripped from mouths, eyes gouged, video game style martial arts between 'evil Kabukiman' and Toxie inside a meat market(except in 'Amortville' a "cowman" in "hick chic" is the butcher who used humans as the food product!),Lard Ass as a poor scientist giving blow jobs for food(in Amortville),Corey Feldman hamming it up as a baby doc with a fake mustache, Sarah pregnant by both Noxie and Toxie, abortion clinic humor, anus violence(rectal hemorrhaging),rape and S&M comedy, decapitated head hi-jinx, Ron Jeremy as Tromaville mayor on and on about seeking the Lord's guidance and presence(resulting in being stabbed through the mouth and out his neck with a crucifix) etc. Oh, and God is a foul-mouthed dwarf with heaven a dump in New Jersey. The hospital massacre has to be seen to be believed, as Kaufman administers the most ridiculous use of split screen I've ever seen(not to mention, you get more mileage out Toxie's mop that could ever be conceived)with Toxie brutalizing an army of neo-Nazis to save his pregnant wife held captive by Noxie. Definitely, Kaufman and company apply the kitchen sink method(including "superhero"(more like superdud)Sgt Kabukiman NYPD who spends most of his time wasted),it seems the only thing missing is Pat Ryan(although, Joe Fleishaker, as Lard Ass, was more than a worthy substitute).

Citizen Toxie The Toxic Avenger IV: A franchise ending on the lowest note imaginable

As I settle down to write this I see that the current featured review refers to this as "One of the greatest movies of all time" this hurts my brain.

Now I've never been a fan of the Toxic Avengers films, prior to this out of a potential 30 points the three previous films attained a remarkable *Drumroll* 7 points from me. They're dumb, they're silly and they personify Troma films perfectly.

Made 16yrs after the first movie this 4th and I do hope final movie is the worst of the bunch by a long margin and will be one that lingers on my mind for longtime to come for all the wrong reasons.

Our hero (And I use that term loosely) finds himself transported through time and space switching places with an evil version of himself. Cue more stupidity, childish humour and stuff that I don't understand how it even constitutes as comedy at all.

So why the 1/10? For me that means a movie is devoid of all redeeming features and has absolutely nothing going for it therefore are rare entities. Well because it suffers from all the same issues as the first three movies but this time ramps them up to the next level.

The writer was clearly trying to shock, trying to be as sick and inappropriate as possible throughout. Don't get me wrong I'm not easily offended (And wasn't here) and am entirely 100% anti-censorship but this was just nasty stuff. When you actively mock the mentally disabled throught the 90 minutes, resort to making multiple rape jokes and have crass characters whom I couldn't even name or describe without breaching IMDB's t&c's you've sunk too low in my opinion.

The violence is considerably stronger than previous films, it's riddled with camero appearances by the likes of Ron Jeremy, Julie Strain, Corey Feldman and Lemmy "Motorhead" KIlmister and all the usual cast members have been recast.

Citizen Toxie is a dire childish movie that makes me thankful the franchise has died.

The Good:

Some oddly good political and social commentary

The Bad:

Excessively crude in places

Some jokes are really quite sick

Recasting

Lloyd Kaufmans direction

Things I Learnt From This Movie:

Pregnancy tests, now in braille

Abraham Lincoln was bi-polar

The best ladies of the night accept cash or pastries

Noel Gallagher is the worst superhero ever
