I will just start by saying that I have always enjoyed the "Creepshow" anthologies, especially as I watched parts 1 and 2 while growing up, and remembering that there were some pretty good segments in those two first anthologies.

"Creepshow 3" was nowhere near the first "Creepshow" movie anthology, little less like the second.

The stories in this third installment were not really all that interesting, and had only vague hints of horror to them. However, it was really nice the way they were interwoven with one another though.

The acting in the different segments was good though and that at least did help to lift up the overall enjoyment of the anthology.

But the anthology just didn't come off as being all that impressive, and as such it was a less than mediocre movie experience.

Having just seen Halloween themed anthology Trick 'r 'Treat on the back of much praise from horror fans, and been thoroughly unimpressed, I decided that the time was right to check out Creepshow 3: after all, I had heard that this one sucked real bad, and at least I wouldn't come away disappointed. Hell, there might even be the slim possibility of it being better than the critics had said.

Nope! It is utter garbage. Two seconds into the awful pre-credits sequence—an amateurish piece of computer aided animation with nauseating 'comic' sound effects—was enough to let me know that I was in for a rough ride, for no-one with an ounce of respect for the franchise, or for horror fans, would produce such an insulting and thoroughly inept introduction.

But that was just the beginning. The five stories that followed would only go to prove further that the creators of this stink-fest had absolutely no understanding of the legacy of EC comics, and definitely no talent.

Tale number one—Alice: Stephanie Pettee plays schoolgirl Alice, who enters her family home as her father is meddling with the remote for a new TV. Each time he jabs a button, Alice's reality alters for the worse, until she finally gets turned into a rabbit!!?!?! A terrible tale to start with, this is like a rejected episode of Steven Spielberg's Amazing Stories rather than a ghoulish tale of the macabre. Absolute rubbish.

Tale number two—The Radio: things improve slightly with the story of loser Jerry (AJ Bowen),who buys a radio from a vagrant only to discover that it can talk directly to him, offering advice on how to become rich. Naturally, for this to happen, he is required to steal and kill, and unsurprisingly, a terrible fate is ultimately in store. A little slow perhaps, but a small step in the right direction, The Radio actually ignites a small glimmer of hope...

Which is further encouraged by Tale number 3—Rachel The Call Girl: A sexy psycho (Camille Lacey) poses as a call girl and murders whoever phones her for a night of fun, but her latest customer (Ryan Carty) proves to be a bit of a problem: he's a vampire! (well, I guess he is supposed to be: his makeup is awful). This is the first and only one of the stories to follow the standard EC format, whereby a wicked person gets their comeuppance in a supernatural or nasty manner. It's passable.

Tale number four permanently snuffs out the flame of hope. It's called 'Professor Dayton's Wife' and should get some kind of an award for being the dumbest tale ever to feature in an anthology. Emmet Mcguire stars as Professor Dayton, who announces to two of his ex-students that he is due to be married. After meeting the professor's impossibly perfect wife-to-be, they proceed to dismember her in the mistaken belief that she is a robot. Gory (lots of prosthetic body parts and fake blood is thrown around),but embarrassingly bad.

Tale number five, The Haunted Dog, rounds off this thoroughly reprehensible mess: disreputable Dr.Farwell (Kris Allen) offers his contaminated hot-dog to a tramp (Ed Dyer),who immediately chokes to death on the filthy fast food. The disgruntled ghost of the bum wants revenge, and haunts the doctor wherever he goes. A torpid tale with an unimpressive outcome.

As in Trick 'r Treat, all five tales takes place in the same neighbourhood and overlap slightly with each other, meaning that the main character from one story could turn up as secondary character in another. This is actually handled rather well (certainly better than in T'rT) and at least lends a degree of interest to what are otherwise extremely lame exercises in horror, but this minor gimmick in no way makes up for the dreadful script, terrible acting, pathetic comic-style transitions between stories, cheap makeup, bargain basement CGI, and totally inappropriate soundtrack.

"Creepshow III" has a messy screenplay with five stories intended to be of the horror genre, but actually they are so silly and cheesy that become funny. But maybe the worst is the attempt of the writers in entwining the characters and situations centered in the character of Professor Dayton (Emmett McGuire),never working and making the plot absolutely non-sense as a whole.

"Alice": The first sub-plot is about the suburban Alice (Stephanie Pettee),an annoying teenager that does not like the neighborhood where she lives. When her father uses a universal remote control developed by Professor Dayton, she moves to other dimensions with other families and when she returns, she is transformed in a rabbit and is forgotten by her family. My vote is three.

"The Radio": The security guard Jerry (AJ Bowen) buys a radio developed by Professor Dayton from a street vendor. The radio talks to him and gives instructions to steal US$ 300,000.00 from a criminal, kill a couple of smalltime crook neighbors and move to another city. When Jerry decides to bring the prostitute Eva (Elina Madison) with him, he seals his fate by his own, destroys the radio and has a tragic surprise. My vote is four.

"Call Girl": Rachel (Camille Lacey) is a call-girl and serial killer. When she is hired by the weird Victor (Ryan Carty),she stabs and kills him while having sex, but later she finds the truth about the odd teenager. My vote is six.

"The Professor's Wife": Professor Dayton invites his two best former students to introduce his fiancée Kathy (Bo Kresic) in a dinner party. Charles (Michael Madrid) and John (Ben Pronsky) believe Kathy is an android and decide to disassemble her in the best episode. My vote is seven.

"Haunted Dog": The mean, abusive and reckless Dr. Farwell (Kris Allen) is serving in a free clinic in a poor neighborhood. When he accidentally drops a hot-dog on the sidewalk, he gives the dirty sandwich to a homeless beggar and the man dies. Then he is haunted by the ghost of the beggar. My vote is four.

In the end, I did not totally dislike this movie and my overall vote in IMDb is five.
