Okay Dickie Roberts Former Child Star was hilarious. The funny thing was is that all the child stars from the 70's and 80's were in this. It was the funny thing that was the song at the end and how he needs to get a childhood he never had back was really really funny and the thought of Sandler and Happy Madison Prouductions put this together to make Sandler and Spade movie with all the little Sandler and Spade actors which are mostly all of their movies were like John Lovitz and Micheal McDonald and even the thought to put Rob Reiner that was really funny. Okay so I have masterminded all the little things in this movie to make it 10/10. Sandler and Spade were in the writing and Production of this so they did awesome.

I laughed a lot in this movie
Almost perfect casting
The occasional tragedies of former kid actors who never transitioned successfully to the adult world is cliché now. But in Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star, David Spade gets the big screen career role that he's more than likely to be best remembered. The movie is all right, nothing special, but Spade really gets into the character. It's almost perfect casting.
Some real Hollywood characters get to play themselves here such as Rob Reiner former meathead and now respected director. In the latter role he sees Spade who wants a part in his new film. But Spade who had nothing approximating a normal childhood agrees to find a family to "adopt" him so he may observe their real kids.
This sounds like the premise of a reality show, but this is a movie folks. The family he moves in with is Craig Bierko and Mary McCormack and kids Scott Terra and Jenna Boyd. Bierko is far from a TV show father, but that allows McCormack to develop an interest in Spade. Yes folks, it does get a bit weird there.
Throughout the cast the names of former child stars of yore are here and for the most part these are people who never quite made the transition or for one reason or another their careers sort of petered out. But it sure guarantees some kind of nostalgia loving built in audience for the film with kid players going back to the 50s.
For you gazers of faded star glory Dickie Roberts is the film for you.
Some sharp but mostly gooey sweet comedy
Dickie Roberts (David Spade) is a self obsessed middle-aged former child star of a TV show called 'The Glimmer Gang'. His latest stunt is to fight Emmanuel Lewis but he loses. Even his girlfriend (Alyssa Milano) is tired of it all. Then he gets a break on a big Hollywood movie, but the director (Rob Reiner) isn't sure that Dickie has the proper experience to play a normal human being. So he's spending his $30k advance to stay a month with a regular family (Mary McCormack, Craig Bierko, Scott Terra, Jenna Boyd).
David Spade is able to maintain his likability even as he plays an arrogant idiot. The trick is probably that he's so pathetic and sad that we're allowed to laugh at his antics. There are some sharp edges early on in Hollywood with all the former stars, but it gets a bit gooey with the family. He has some fun with the kids, and he gets to grow as a character.
