If you had told me I was going to watch a movie about the end of the world that didn't focus on the downfall of society but instead focused on the drama within the lives of 8 friends I would have said no way. Yet somehow this movie was very enjoyable and kept me entertained for 100 minutes.
The acting was good.. the story was above average and the plight of these friends had a few twists and turns.

Plot summary
James and Lily, estranged from society, live off the grid, raising their young daughter in a cocoon of comfort and sustainability. When a mysterious mass text ripples its way across the country, triggering a crippling, apocalyptic cyber attack, their home transitions from sheltered modern oasis to a fortress for the estranged old friends that show up at their door for protection and community. The unexpected reunion--abundant with revelry and remembrances, generously enhanced by organic wine and weed--is quickly undermined by the slights of the past, the spark of lingering flirtations and the threat of a locally grown new world order. Balancing tense confrontations with slivers of levity, director Denis Henry Hennelly pinpoints a future where ideology explodes into action in every area.

I WANT TO GET YOU STONED AND FEED YOU PANCAKES
A "Goodbye World" virus infects all cell phones and the power grid. Some trucks blow up so all vehicles stop delivering food. This is like a a bad ice storm without the ice and sudden anarchy with riots. A group of people gather to a self sufficient community in northern California.with the expected neighbor problems. The group went to college together...sort of.
Two people in the group are hackers...wink, wink, nudge, nudge. The movie centers on personality conflicts plus that end of the world thing.
The drama conflict got boring. The film did make good use of character build up and flaws, but it really needed direction instead of giving us a daily soap opera.
Parental Guide: F-bomb. sex. No nudity
Riding out the apocalypse with friends
A bunch of college buddies seek refuge at a remote cabin in the woods after a mysterious terrorist cyber attack takes out the power all over the world.
Director/co-writer Denis Henry Hennelly relates the compelling story at a constant pace, maintains a serious thoughtful tone throughout, presents an interesting array of vividly drawn and plausibly flawed warts'n'all characters, and offers a trenchant and provocative examination on how a crisis situation forces people to face and subsequently come to terms with their own true natures. The sound acting by the tip-top cast helps a lot: Adrian Grenier as the resourceful James, Gaby Hoffmann as the tough and sensible Laura, Kerry Bishe as the sassy Lily, Ben McKenzie as regretful wimp Nick,Caroline Dhavernas as the snarky Becky, Mark Webber as the cynical Benji, Remy Nozik as the brash Ariel, and Kid Cudi as laid-back hacker Lev. Worth a watch.
