A direct sequel to the original film, this time with Linden Porco in the main role. Even Taylor Spreitler's (Amityville: The Awakening) character is portrayed as the daughter of Jennifer Anniston's Tory Redding from the first movie. Even Ozzie Jones (Mark Holton) comes back.
This was directed by Steven Kostanski, who made The Void, Manborg and Psycho Goreman, so he understands exactly what this movie needs to be. It was originally made for SyFy but was later released to DVD and blu ray.
When a team of sorority sisters are tasking with building a green-certified house, they end up bringing Lubdan the Leprechaun back to life. And somehow, miracle of miracles, this ends up being one of the best if not the best movie in the entire series of films. It's got an odd edge to it and isn't afraid to have some goofy kills.
I'd love to see a sequel. And after a week of watching eight of these movies, that may be the highest praise of all.

Plot summary
Twenty-five years ago, a young woman and her friends stopped an evil Leprechaun by shoving a four-leaf clover in its mouth and watching its melting body fall into a well in North Dakota. What happened to his pot of gold is anyone's guess. Today, the property is run by the AU Sorority House of a premiere Eco-science college. A group of students decide to spend their summer vacation turning the house into a perfect "green" living abode. And it would be challenging enough, without the depraved Leprechaun they unwittingly revive. Now he's back and determined to get his gold by teaching these ladies a lesson in murder. Except, they aren't having it. The women band together to find his gold and add, taking down the Leprechaun to their course load.

I dug it
Great edition to the franchise!
I liked how this one was a direct sequel to the original. It was a blast and the deaths scenes were awesome!! The Syfy channel did an awesome job with this one and the guy who played the leprechaun was pretty good! I definitely had fun with it!
Late sequel to a long-running franchise
LEPRECHAUN RETURNS is the newest addition to the long-running saga, brought back by the SyFy Channel for one last time. This one tries to be a direct sequel to the original movie, even bringing back one of the original characters and actors for a brief cameo, but the bad news is that Warwick Davis refused to return for reasons of his own. The problem is that he's been replaced by a Canadian actor who can't do an Irish accent to save his life, turning this into a pantomime. Otherwise it's the usual cast of young women being chased around by a wisecracking ghoul, with gory and humorous deaths added in at regular intervals. Highbrow it ain't, and you wonder why they bothered.
