Plot summary
Indigenous living in a rural community on the Mohawk territory, working class Susan is a single mother having troubles making ends meet for herself and her two daughters, sixteen year old Heather and eight year old Ivy, half sisters in having different fathers neither any longer in the picture. While Heather and Ivy have a good sisterly relationship - Heather whose responsibility it is to walk Ivy to and from school - Heather is at a stage where she is rebelling against any authority issued by Susan, Heather staying out to all hours both during the day and night without a word to Susan concerning her whereabouts, either before or after when questioned. When Heather fails to show up after school to meet Ivy as usual, Susan initially believes it's Heather taking her rebellion one step further. But when none of Heather's friends claim to be with her, Susan reports her as missing to the police. As Susan believes the local police are doing little to nothing to locate Heather, Susan, using what singular lead she has, goes on a quest to Montréal and further to Val-d'Or, with Ivy in tow to try and find who she believes may have been behind Heather's disappearance. In the process, mother and daughter have to lean on each other for that emotional support in dealing with the situation, not always an easy thing in their different emotional needs.

sorry but computer says no. N american society and govt are too busy pandering to the buffalo soldiers to bother with your plight.
Amazing movie!
What a powerful story, it moved me to my core. The devastation and confusion that must come with a child going missing was captured beautifully. The acting was incredible, every single actor was completely in character and each made me feel emotions at different times which is one of my favourite things about thin a movie like this.
Loved it!
Had to wait quite a while to see this movie as I missed it at the Vancouver film festival. I have to say it evoked an emotional response in me As a mother I have felt that panic when a child is late or missing for a time As for Ivy you can see her slowly awakening to the understanding of things no child should have to deal with. But events are seen through a child's eyes which keeps the movie from feeling too dark
