An OK movie for it's time

The movie was interesting, a departure from the norm for Italian movies of it's type. In some scenes it was quite clever however, there was one obvious, glaring scene, which took away from the movie; the letter which states that Cleofe always knew that, Matilde was not a widow, and that Matilde's husband Angelo, was always alive. Still, it was a couple of hours better spent than, the tripe that is coming out of Hollywood, even before Covid.

Relationships gone ... wrong(?)

Ornella Mutti ... what a woman! But I digress. It is not about her ... well it actually sort of is about her, but not just! It is about relationships, about how men and women can live with each other ... and sort of can't. It is about infidelity, about trust and about money (ah that darn money or inheritance ... always something to argue/fight about).

An interesting drama/thriller with interesting cinematography. It does take its time to let us know who the characters are - I would not say that we ever really get to love any of them. Having said that, maybe we at least accept them to a degree - the right ones that is. Nudity and free spirit - although the latter not always. Calling a woman who wants to have fun names is not a nice thing. Says more about the character spewing the words than the woman herself - or maybe we have progressed since then. At least a little ... anyway an intesting movie that is predictable and that I have seen similarly done in other movies too - but this was as entertaining as they get - if you don't mind the "old school" flavor it has.

it's all about the mysterious Lago Maggiore

Whatever story this film has, it's only an excuse for filming at Lago Maggiore, preferably in the evening to sunset and some in the moonlight or what is supposed to be moonlight. I'm probably biased in thinking so (since I spent summers in Lugano nearby, in my early youth) but to me Lake Maggiore is probably the most warmly mystical place on earth. The most mystical place otherwise is maybe Prag apart, of course, from all private mystical places that are gone in the memories of all our hearts. In this film, the mystery comes across in some scenes, which make you realize that whatever else is going on in the picture really isn't that important.
