Something for the fans...

Wow, I didn't even know that "Wake Up, Ron Burgundy: The Lost Movie" existed before now in 2021 as I happened to stumble upon it by sheer random chance. And of course I had to sit down and watch what writers Will Ferrell and Adam McKay did with this 2004 comedy.

It was actually rather interesting and fun, not to mention a bit impressive, that they could muster to put a movie together out of the dropped subplots and alternate takes from the 2004 movie. So that was actually some achievement. But it is also why you will not sit with a feel of there being a properly coherent - or well thought through - plot line or red thread here, as it was bit and pieces thrown together.

But it actually worked well enough, and it was fun to revisit the news team once again.

"Wake Up, Ron Burgundy: The Lost Movie" is something you should watch if you properly enjoyed the movies.

My rating of "Wake Up, Ron Burgundy: The Lost Movie" lands on a five out of ten stars.

ho-hum

A collection of Deleted scenes and alternative takes, edited together and with added voice-over to make it appear to take place after the events of the first. Pretty cool idea, but deleted scenes are left on the cutting room floor for a reason and this is further proof. As it's just not as funny as "Anchorman", and really let's face it THAT film wasn't exactly comedy gold either, so you get a 'movie' worse than one that was moderately funny. In my eyes that STILL puts it one or two notches above "Kicking and Screaming", or "Bewitched". Chross your fingers that "The Wedding Crashers" is a return to old school form (no pun intended)

My Grade: D

Quite A Spiritual Sequel! ♦ 50%

If you are a fan of the news team, this is a must watch 'cause it does have its moments, just enough to enjoy some more madness from the team.

Cast is again, very good. Now, the story is not that good, as expected and I am angry that the makers tried to set it up as a story in the first place. Hatching up a story isn't difficult, but if it is to shine, you better make a good one. When I heard some deleted scenes & shots were being collected into a single movie; I rejoiced.

But the final product is too shabby. And quite boring, too. Now I know how editors have a very tough job. Thank God, these scenes didn't come up in the original movie. But still, it was kinda fun to watch the team pulling Veronica's leg. Also, not to mention,t he script is more obscene here!

BOTTOM LINE: Anchorman fans should give it a try. Others can skip!
