The omnipresent uncertainty, denunciations, and the sense of constant surveillance are tamed with the help of vodka and good company. A renowned writer, Mister T. lives in a hotel for authors and makes a living by giving extra lessons. One day, a young countryside man moves into the next-door flat with big dreams of working as a journalist. Mister T. becomes his mentor and teacher. The pace of the protagonist's life quickens once the authorities begin to suspect him of an evil wish to blow up the Palace of Culture and Science, and Secret Police agents start to watch every move he makes. It is hard to stay serious in this ridiculous reality.

Brilliant State Satire
Amazingly stylish
A film full of black humor and bathed in absurdity. It may be difficult for viewers who do not know Polish history from the early 1950s or the situation of Leopold Tyrmand, a writer whose biography was a base for the adventures of the titlular Mr. T. However, it is a film worth seeing, a great fun to track references, allusions, to admire acting episodes or multi-layered jokes. Mandatory for those who have read the Tyrmand novel "The Bad one" and are not afraid of the fantasy about what it would have been like if it had the title "The Good one".
Mr. T. tries to publish his novel, but having constant problems with publishers, he has to make a living by giving tutoring. She becomes the Pygmalion of his female student, beautiful but not very volatile. He fantasizes about a terrorist attack on Warsaw, meets the communist leader Bierut and causes a transformation in his neighbour - an unhappy informant of the secret police.
low cost low quality
Film is trying to build surrealistic athmosphere from a begining. Unfortunately if you are not familiar with Polish reality this might be very challenging to understand contest. Film made with very low budget, typical theater one-room scenography. It is very boring since the beginning. It took us 15 minutes to stop watching.
